Coming Soon – A Killarney Wedding

January 31, 2010

orlaposter2

Stay tuned here at the blog for a sneak peek at a beautiful wedding that we were lucky enough to cover in Killarney last October.  Filmed at Fossa Church and The Malton, this wedding had some fantastic musicians, suppliers, venue locations… and one of the nicest couples you could ever meet, Maurice and Orla.

Michelle & Owen’s Wedding Story Teaser

January 26, 2010

“Anyone can give you a wedding video… Only we can tell your Wedding Story!” – Maurice O’Carroll, Velvetine Studios, Tralee, Co. Kerry

Michelle & Owen were married at Honan Chapel and their reception was held at the stunning Fota Island Resort where Enchanted Occasions did a magical job with their keen eye for detail and beautiful arrangements.  Abbeyfeale Flowers took care of all the floral displays and I must say that they out did themselves from the button holes to table candelabras.  Philip Daly – who I really enjoy working with – was busy capturing the photographs of the event and setting the wedding party at ease with his usual charm and humour.  The guests were also treated to the best of food, champagne, entertainment galore with a gutairist, characaturist, and the EightySomething band.

But, the most important thing behind all the pretty flowers and beautiful lights was a great couple who have been love for over eight years and Velvetine Studios would like to thank Michelle & Owen for having us as part of their wedding day!

Therese & John

January 11, 2010

I met Therese and John many moons ago over a cup of tea in Ballygarry House and I was delighted when they decided to have me look after their wedding video… And, like all of our couples, they wanted more than just a wedding video so we filmed their Wedding Story.

I got lost looking for John’s house on the morning of the wedding and ended up in Adare.  Thankfully, I always give myself plenty of time to spare and I finally found my way to John’s place.  We also filmed Therese and the girls getting ready that morning and one of the perks about this wedding was that the church was literally next door to the bride’s house… If it weren’t for the stunning dress I’m pretty sure she could have just hopped over the wall and down the aisle to her groom.

Riona Mac Monagle is a very popular photographer in Kerry – and for good reason! – but strangely enough, Therese and John’s wedding was my first time working with her and it was a pleasure.  Riona is a fun person and the type of photographer who won’t keep you away from your guests all day.  I was very impressed with her work ethic – and she’s great craic – and I can highly recommend her to anyone enquiring about wedding photography.

The reception was held at Ballygarry House Hotel which looked as magical as always and, despite an electrical blackout all over Tralee, Padraig and his brilliant staff carried off this wedding without a single hitch.  I can never say enough about this fantastic wedding venue and I only hope the snippets in the wedding film below do some justice to the beauty and service of the place.

So, Therese and John, here’s your Teaser… And thanks for having me!!!

Sinead & Ger’s Teaser

January 7, 2010

gersineadposter

Seems like only yesterday when I travelled down to Crosshaven for the baptism of little Finn and the wedding of his parents, Ger & Sinead.  It was a beautiful weekend and all the fond memories came flooding back when I started editing this Wedding Story.

Father Sean Conlon – Sinead’s uncle – officiated at both ceremonies and I enjoyed his company very much.  It’s a pity for me that he’s based in Derry because I’d happily film at a wedding every week if I had the chance.  An absolute gent and both his ceremonies were beautiful.  Sinead and Ger are the type of couple that one can’t help but take an immediate liking to… and the same can be said for all their families and friends; wonderful people!

Ger Mac was taking care of the photography and it was a welcome opportunity for me to catch up with him having worked together on a couple of occasions in the past.

Filming at Bunnyconnellan was a first for me but I have to give them a special mention for the first class service and stunning scenery; top marks!  I was also very impressed with Sinead’s cake – easily one of my favourites from 2009 – which was made by Ali@Milis Anyway, enough from me; let’s watch their wedding story teaser below. Enjoy!

Video Photographs From A Crosshaven Wedding Story & Baptism

January 5, 2010

It’s only a matter of time before photographers and videographers have the technology to capture pictures & video from the one camera in the very same moment.  The lines are beginning to blur already and because Velvetine Studios always position ourselves at the forefront of wedding filmmaking, we hope to have an exciting new “stills & film” package for our clients in the near future.

Here’s an example of what one can expect: below is a wedding/baptism that we filmed for one of the nicest – and coolest! – families we met in 2009.  We are about to start working on their Wedding Story and all the “photographs” are simply candid frame grabs from the HD video footage of their event.
