I simply LOVED this wedding.

Olivia, John, and their family and friends are just the nicest people and there was an electric buzz surrounding this wedding day; maybe it was because the guests arrived to a beautifully presented church, maybe it was the friendly greetings from John and his groomsmen, maybe it was because Archbishop Michael Neary was the celebrant, maybe it was because everyone knew how in love this couple were… or maybe it because of all of these factors put together make a joyous atmosphere.

One thing is for sure… it makes our job very easy.  Elaine and I were still engaged when we filmed this wedding and she was in awe at some of the similarities to our own coming wedding day and I’ve got to be honest, we didn’t want to go home it was such a fabulous event!

I must mention Nelius Buckley, the photographer.  It was our first time working with Nelius and it was an absolute pleasure.  At times, during the ceremony, I had to look really, really hard to find him and I can’t say that too often about photographers.  The man was almost invisible and an expert at keeping the day flowing along.

The reception was held at the stunning Castlemartyr Hotel.  The management and staff here are second to none and filming there was a great experience for us. Great service, nothing is a bother, and the food is to die for.

Truthfully, as I start to edit my way through last summers weddings I’m starting to feel a bit lonesome as this year draws to a close.  I know it’s been a difficult year for all of us and it looks as if tougher times are on the way but revisiting weddings like Olivia and John’s also remind me that the summer of 2010 was a brilliant time where we met fantastic people and created some magical memories…

Thanks for having us, Olivia and John!

Alana and Daniel

View on FaceBook

This wedding will always bring back memories of nice people, iPads, torrential rain, and being questioned by the Gardaí.

I remember driving down to Skibereen for this wedding and we could barely see out the window it was raining that hard.  I feared a washout for the bride, Alana Nolan, a really sweet girl. The weather was so bad that I was dreading leaving the comfort of the car.  We arrived at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and, wow, I was excited.  Such a gorgeous building and so much eye candy to shoot.  I knew we were in for a good day!

I got busy filming the groom, Daniel, greeting his guests and then I waited for Alana’s arrival… and I waited… and waited.  No sign of her.  I was standing under the shelter of a tree, trying to protect my camera from the rain when a Garda car pulled up to me.  The officer leaned to the passenger window and summoned me over.  Turns out it was an old buddy of mine who I worked with about 15 years ago… Now I know who to call the next time I get a speeding ticket.  We were just getting into the middle of catching up when I heard a car horn in the distance… The bride!

Turns out that her car broke down on the way to the church and I will never forget the look of relief on Daniel’s face when I told him that his bride was finally here… and that the rain had finally cleared.

At the reception, the photographer, Peter O’Neill, allowed me to play around with his iPad during the meal.  I swore that I was going to wait until the second generation of iPads came out before buying one…. I didn’t last week after holding one in my hands :)

I’ll always have fond memories of Alana and Daniel’s wedding day.  Thanks for having us!
