Love Is Like A Song

velvetine studios produce a select amount of wedding video in kerry and wedding video in ireland. our dates do book quickly and 2010 is already filling fast so call now to enquire about your date!

I had been so excited about this wedding for such a long time and it had finally come. New Year’s Eve. Tralee. And it was freezing. But like Fr Padraig Walsh said “As soon as Amy came in to the church she warmed us all up…”

I first met Amy over two years ago and I was at a crossroads with wedding video. Doubts about whether couples wanted to join me on my journey to change Irish wedding video were beginning to creep into my thinking and I was being tempted away with offers of corporate video work. However, I decided to remain true to my passion and committed myself 100% to a new and pioneering style of wedding film. Amy was my first potential client after making this decision.

But that is not why her wedding was a source of excitement for me. During our consultation she came across as a very friendly young woman who knew exactly what she wanted from her wedding. She choose some great vendors and service suppliers because she wanted her day to be “different”. So, all the signs were good and Amy decided to book us… and then we got chatting some more. Amy began to share some of her amazing story with me and I learned about a tragic couple of deaths in her family which changed her life and those around her forever. Her story inspired me – it’s as simple as that.

When Amy saw her movie poster for the first time she joked that she “feels like a celebrity“. You may not be a celebrity, Amy, but one things for sure, your family and me included think that you are a Star!

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

wedding video ireland - paddy and aineWe travelled up from Kerry to Limerick to film this wedding for Paddy and Aine. And what a day!

Like all our couples, Paddy and Aine didn’t want an ordinary wedding video; they are a fun, happy go lucky couple and they wanted something that reflected this… So we gave them their own Wedding Story.

When we arrived at their church it was literally freezing inside (it was the middle of  a verrry cold Dec) but as soon as Paddy and his guests arrived I could feel the place warming up.  There was an obvious sense of connection and community and I was so happy to be a part of it all.  And what I loved about this down-to-earth couple and their family and friends was that even though they knew how to have lots of fun there was also a wonderful sense of meaning and sincerity to the marriage ceremony.

The wedding reception took place at Woodlands House Hotel in Adare and I was in bits for the speeches.  They went on for about 40 minutes but it was one of those rare occasions when they could have carried on for another 40 and I don’t think anyone would have complained: they were hilarious.  Apparently, the best man, Roger, is still a local celebrity after his performance :)

Other key vendors who contributed to a fantastic day and were a joy to work with were Geraldine Foley (florist), the wedding photographer Rose Baker, church music by The Secret Chord, and the reception music was by the ever popular Limerick based wedding band The Deerhunters.

Check out the teaser below and thanks a million for having us Paddy and Áine!!!

Video Photographs From A Crosshaven Wedding Story & Baptism

January 5, 2010

It’s only a matter of time before photographers and videographers have the technology to capture pictures & video from the one camera in the very same moment.  The lines are beginning to blur already and because Velvetine Studios always position ourselves at the forefront of wedding filmmaking, we hope to have an exciting new “stills & film” package for our clients in the near future.

Here’s an example of what one can expect: below is a wedding/baptism that we filmed for one of the nicest – and coolest! – families we met in 2009.  We are about to start working on their Wedding Story and all the “photographs” are simply candid frame grabs from the HD video footage of their event.

Weddings In Kerry – Where Weddings Are Magical!

June 5, 2009

wk_final

Weddings In Kerry is a new and exciting resource for couples who are interested in getting married in one of the most beautiful places on earth and I was simply thrilled when the group asked Velvetine Studios to produce their promotional video.

Weddings In Kerry is a collective of some of Kerry’s leading hotels and it is their goal to reach out to a worldwide audience and promote the Kingdom as a wedding destination: after all, we are blessed with natural, breathtaking scenery, stunning venues, glorious churches and cathedrals, friendly people, and award winning wedding suppliers.  The group more or less gave me a free hand to get this message across on their website and we all decided from the outset that we needed a video that captured the magic and feeling of a wedding in Kerry.  I’m delighted to say that after a lot of hard work we have done just that!  Yesterday, I screened the video to the group for the first time and the feedback from them was a resounding 10 out of 10… we even got 11 from one member.

Weddings In Kerry are busy putting the final touches to their website (designed by the impressive The Marketing Crowd ) so stay tuned for more details and launch dates.  Velvetine Studios will also be making an exciting announcement to coincide with the launch so for all you 2009 Kerry brides who thought you could live without a wedding video… Think again!!!

Behind The Scenes

May 24, 2009

It’s been a pretty hectic couple of months behind the scenes at Velvetine Studios and we’ve been working on some great weddings, produced a gorgeous in-house presentation for a leading hotel’s TV and Register Til screens, and we’ve been putting together a couple of exciting projects for some very influential people in the wedding industry… stay tuned for more details over the next couple of weeks!

My fiancee, Elaine, has come to my rescue just as I was beginning to feel overwhelmed by the workload and I’m beginning to worry that she has a “better eye” than I do.  She’s always been a natural at this game but despite training her in for the last six months I still didn’t expect her to be as good as she is today.  I only shot one Wedding Story over the last six weeks but our other weekends where spent shooting our new package… more details to follow soon but I can tell you straight up that it’s working out great and we filmed in Tralee, Sneem, and Killarney.  Not only that but we also introduced Armagh and Monaghan to Velvetine Studios!

When Kerry’s leading hotels need some video work to enhance their branding they come to us and we are only too delighted to work for them.  Ballygarry House Hotel is no exception and we proudly produced their WebTV videos – see website.  Over the past few weeks we have been giving their in-house video presentations a make-over and thankfully, the feedback so far from the hotel couldn’t be better.

I’ve got to admit that I’m so, so pumped about what lays ahead for us in the future.  Not only are we introducing new services to meet the needs of today and tomorrow’s brides but a collective of very influential people are creating a much needed service for Kerry brides.  Sorry for the secrecy but all will be revealed in the next couple of weeks and I’ll bet that Kerry brides will be just as excited as I am when they hear about what’s in store!

Ballygarry House WebTV

October 27, 2008

Ballygarry House Hotel and Spa has long been one of my favourite wedding venues in Kerry so I was honoured when they asked me to produce some short promotional videos for their new website. Here’s a look at an overview of the fantastic service that the hotel and its staff provides.

OVERVIEW:

Ballygarry House is probably the busiest hotel in Kerry for hosting weddings because they are renowned for quality service and fantastic food. I love filming at this hotel and I can’t recommend them highly enough to anyone who is looking for a wedding venue!

WEDDINGS:

The hotel has many great features and their rooms are simply gorgeous. The bridal suite oozes old world charm and the master suite is a blend of the old with modern day comforts; very stylish. They have been busy renovating over the course of the summer and I think they have done a fantastic job.

ROOMS:

Nadur Spa is one of the more recent additions to the hotel and I’m told that it has been a massive success for Ballygarry. But don’t just take my word for it: They recently won Day Spa & Spa Manager of the Year 2008.
