Sarah and Ian Scott were married at the historic St. John’s Church Cratloe and their reception was held at the luxurious Dromoland Castle. The teaser of their Wedding Story goes live on the blog this Friday so stay tuned!

It has been a very difficult week for us due to a family bereavement.  After a long illness, my grandmother passed away on Friday morning and we all miss her already.

We have been experiencing some difficulty with the website over the last few days but please bear with us as things should return to normal over the next 48 hours or so.

We have offically opened our 2011 calendar and our limited dates are already being snapped up… fast. In fact, as of today we have only 22 dates remaining and we want to thank all of you for your continued support!

Velvetine Studios is a boutique studio and we only work with a limited amount of clients each year. Our wedding video films – better known as Wedding Story – continue to excite couples all over Ireland and beyond. My good friend Roger Overall took this picture of me while I was telling him about my crusade to change the face of wedding video in Ireland.

Six months or so further down the road it looks like I’m finally making an impact with my wedding films for modern young couples.  Not only have I been lucky enough to film weddings throughout Ireland but I’ve also told Wedding Stories in the UK, Crete, and I’ve even filmed in the USA.

Now, it seems that Velvetine Studios has a huge fan base in Sweden!

To be honest, this TV campaign about our unique approach to wedding video has come as a huge surprise to us but the great thing about this international exposure is that people are finally waking up to the fact that there is a new breed of wedding film available to today’s young couples.

Elaine and I have moved our wedding date from July to the new date of Oct 22nd.  It has been difficult trying to fit in all our vendors and what not but the good news for you is that Velvetine Studios now have available dates in July and August!

I met Therese and John many moons ago over a cup of tea in Ballygarry House and I was delighted when they decided to have me look after their wedding video… And, like all of our couples, they wanted more than just a wedding video so we filmed their Wedding Story.

I got lost looking for John’s house on the morning of the wedding and ended up in Adare.  Thankfully, I always give myself plenty of time to spare and I finally found my way to John’s place.  We also filmed Therese and the girls getting ready that morning and one of the perks about this wedding was that the church was literally next door to the bride’s house… If it weren’t for the stunning dress I’m pretty sure she could have just hopped over the wall and down the aisle to her groom.

Riona Mac Monagle is a very popular photographer in Kerry – and for good reason! – but strangely enough, Therese and John’s wedding was my first time working with her and it was a pleasure.  Riona is a fun person and the type of photographer who won’t keep you away from your guests all day.  I was very impressed with her work ethic – and she’s great craic – and I can highly recommend her to anyone enquiring about wedding photography.

The reception was held at Ballygarry House Hotel which looked as magical as always and, despite an electrical blackout all over Tralee, Padraig and his brilliant staff carried off this wedding without a single hitch.  I can never say enough about this fantastic wedding venue and I only hope the snippets in the wedding film below do some justice to the beauty and service of the place.

It’s only a matter of time before photographers and videographers have the technology to capture pictures & video from the one camera in the very same moment.  The lines are beginning to blur already and because Velvetine Studios always position ourselves at the forefront of wedding filmmaking, we hope to have an exciting new “stills & film” package for our clients in the near future.

Velvetine Studios is a boutique wedding film studio based in Kerry and our select amount of dates book out very quickly – in fact, our 2010 calendar is beginning to look pretty full already.   We find it very hard to say no to couples who are genuinely interested in having something more than just wedding video but unfortunately, we often find ourselves in this situation.  It is our policy to only take on a manageable amount of clients who we can devote the necessary time to so that their wedding film is of the highest standard available in Ireland… and beyond!

Melanie and Simon had a brilliant wedding and their story began when they met each other on holidays.  Who would have guessed way back then that they would end up in Fels Point as a married couple eight years to the day after their first kiss… though looking at them now  you would have to say “of course they were going to get married” or as their chief bridesmaid Maria put it “they are a match made in heaven!”

Here’s a blast from the past that I found an old hard drive from the days when High Definition seemed like a faraway dream. It’s a clip that I shot in 2007 single-handed in a Crete niteclub called The Matrix. I was out there filming a wedding video for Damien Greer who is the drummer for a well known Tralee band called Midnite Cafe. Cafe are a great wedding band but these guys have played with legends and I can name Jimmy Page off the top of my head and they have supported Rod Stewart in concert. To say that I was delighted to be asked out to Crete to film a wedding is an understatement and I had a fantastic week in the sun.

A few nights after the wedding Midnite Cafe played a gig in The Matrix and I grabbed the following live set with the very limited equipment that I had to hand at the time.
