Lydia and Patrick contacted us about filming their wedding and after filling them in on what we offer they went away to look at every other option available to them throughout Ireland. I suppose Patrick’s friends will tell you that this attention to detail is what anyone can expect from the man. Their wedding bore testimony to this; no stone was left unturned and the day was a credit to them both and their families.

However, during this time while they researched wedding video, the Velvetine Studios calendar had filled to capacity and when Patrick called to talk with us again after exhausting every other possibility, I had some bad news for him in that we were no longer accepting 2011 bookings. However, after a brief chat with Elaine we shuffled a couple of things around {we had a good feeling about this couple} and arranged a meeting with them at their reception venue, Dunloe Castle. It was early morning, the hotel was still keeping a number of guests cosy in their beds, and we shared some tea and coffee with Lydia and Patrick before they made their journey back to Cork. It was a wonderful meeting where we learned some fascinating details about the couple.

On our journey back home that morning, Elaine and I were so excited about this couples wedding. It was just weeks away and it had all the ingredients of being a special day.

And it was.

What I love about their story is that they are young – both 28, I believe – and yet, they have spent half their lifetime together. Both families were quite emotive throughout the day because they knew they were witnessing something very special – and something that seemed “meant to be” – between two people.

It was also our pleasure to be a part of it all and later that night – when the groom was mucking about with his dogs in the hotel lobby {Dunloe is pet friendly!!} – I told Patrick that I was glad our paths had crossed. He and his bride were still in somewhat of a daze and my words probably went straight over their heads so I’m going to say it again; Lydia and Patrick, thank you so much for having us as part of your wedding day and for giving us the opportunity to tell your Wedding Story!

Other key vendors and suppliers:

Jason Clifford – We love filming weddings at Dunloe Castle and it’s always a pleasure to meet with Jason, the General Manager. During the speeches, Lydia and Patrick raved about the hotel and the fantastic service they had received throughout the entire wedding process. It was well deserved praise!

Siobhan Oliver – Beautiful music will lift any ceremony and this is exactly what Siobhan and her musicians did. It was also the first time our paths crossed so it was a pleasure to meet in person.

Philip Daly – A gentleman and a true, professional wedding photographer.

The Incredibles – Love this band! We first met them at Trish and Sean Gallagher’s wedding back in 2010 and they are only getting better and better. They are managed by a terrific outfit and I can highly recommend them. Rock on, guys and gals!
